Welcome to Garbed Gatherings in 2022.

Even with limited venues and events last year, we hope you were able to join us and enjoy our adventures.  If you are new to the group or have been unable to partake in our escapades, we hope to see you this year.

We thought we would recap since we didn’t get to share them here previously.

May 26, 2021 we were so looking forward to “Masks & Mazes” at the Missouri Botanical Gardens, but unfortunately the maze was still closed due to Covid restrictions.  We still had a lovely time in our “Venetian” garb and masks.

June 26, 2021 found us at the Butterfly House for a bit of “Summertime Whimsy”.

It’s always a pleasure when we can gather with friends in such a beautiful setting and afterwards enjoy dinner at Bishop’s Post.

July 4, 2021 found us at the Oakland House Museum where we took advantage of the delightful brunch and tour of the museum.

September 18, 2021 we decided to take an excursion from Grafton Harbor on the “Hakuna Matata”.  Us “pirates” enjoyed fruit and cheese with our wine tasting / sunset cruise.

October 9, 2021 saw us in Edwardsville, IL at the Queens Cuisine Tea Room.   Soup, salad, tea and “Victoria Sponge cake”… yum!

October 24, 2021 we just couldn’t let October and a delightful fall pass without a pot luck / costume party at the D’Mort abode.  From pirates to chickens, we hope a good time was had by all.

December 18, 2021 we were blessed to end the year out with our Christmas Party at Sam’s Steakhouse.  It was beautifully decorated for the holidays and the meal was exquisite as well.

Even with limited venues and events last year, we hope you were able to join us and enjoy our adventures.  If you are new to the group or have been unable to partake in our escapades, we hope to see you this year.

Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House

As spring turns to summer, we turn our focus to butterflies. On this first weekend of summer, Garbed Gatherings ushers in these steamy days with a visit to the beautiful glass conservatory of the Sophia M. Sachs Butterfly House in Faust Park. Here we will interact with the more than 60 species that fly freely in this tropical environment.

After meandering amongst the butterflies we plan to have dinner at the Bishop’s Post.

About Garbed Gatherings

Garbed Gatherings at Missouri Botanical Gardens Masquerade

What a day!

The Missouri Botanical Gardens never fail in the beauty they offer. From the lovely mausoleum with the stained glass to the Japanese gardens we were able to get some great shots.

Today’s theme was “Masquerade in the Maze; A Promenade of Missouri Botanical Gardens”

We shared a lovely day visiting with friends, John Huber, Kimberly Wood, Nikki & Kevin Luebke, Irina Levtchin Yingxi Yang and Kristi and Jay Draper. Although after several hours in mostly Venetian Carnival garb, and forgetting to bring refreshments, the sun began to take its toll on us and we decided to call it a day before anyone was over heated.

A special thank you to our photogs, Valerie Snyder, Barbie Steps, Thang Ho and Karen.
